Only During Thunderstorms is Paper Moon‘s third full-length record; an exploration into an edgier, more energetic sound that better suilted their personalities. Lead vocalist Allison Shevernoha sings about relationships, friendships and the difficulties encountered in daily life with a wry poignancy, supported by sophsticated pop instrumentation. The album was created with the assistance of friend and up-and-coming producer Ryan Worsley (Dawntreader, Maplewood Lane), who brought new life and perspective to the songs.

Filled with gorgeous, expansive melodies, Broken Hearts… builds layers of instrumentation and expertly delivered vocals into an elegant pop record. Standout tracks include “Turning Colours Into Greys,” “Last Goodbye,” “These New Friends of Yours…” and “String of Blinking Lights” (co-written with New York producer/Ivy member Andy Chase). National recognition was such that the album was nominated for a 2006 Western Canadian Music Award for Best Pop Recording, alongside the likes of Michael Buble, Jann Arden and Daniel Powter.

Released on Endearing Records in Canada June of 2002, the record hit #5 on the National Campus Radio Charts and collected accolades from press across the country.
