Back with her sixth solo album is Canadian chanteuse Lily Frost with Viridian Torch. Inspired by the landscape around her family home on Lake Huron, Viridian Torch delves into the spirituality and energy found in nature, drawing on its healing capability and raw power. Recorded in a downtown Toronto church with outstanding acoustics, these orchestral songs flow between sounds of the relaxing calm of the woods to the intensity of electrical storms. Since releasing 2006’s Cine-Magique, Lily was nominated for a Gemini award for her composing work (along with the theme song) to CBC’s Being Erica, has had two successful tours of France, released the Flights Of Fancy EP and an album of Billie Holiday covers called Lily Swings.

Flights Of Fancy is a whimsical grouping of misfit songs from the Cine-Magique sessions. Just because they’re different doesn’t mean they can’t spread their wings and fly, and maybe find a home in some of your hearts.

Sounds Like: Martha Wainwright, Sondre Lerche, Francoise Hardy, Feist
“…this modest collection of cast-offs from Frost’s recent Cine-Magique disc is strikingly good.” NNNN – Now Magazine

A rare bird from Canada’s musical woods. The tone of Lily Frost’s fourth solo offering is emotional and enchanting. Cine-Magique takes a minimalist direction, with flourishes of musical magic realism and cinematic dimensions. The record was produced by her Chilean husband, Jose Miguel Contreras, in Toronto while Lily was pregnant with their first son, Meesha Moon. Revealed in its 13 songs is Lily’s musical essence – Spanish, French, spaghetti western guitars, love affairs, shadows and light.
Genre: Alternative Pop / Cabaret
Sounds Like: Martha Wainwright, Sondre Lerche, Francoise Hardy, Feist
“a warm, silken voice guaranteed to melt lingering memories of chilly winter…”- FLARE Magazine
“In 13 tunes that tell their own visual, cinematic tales, you’ll find yourself caught between fantasy and veracity. She’ll give you chills. She’ll serenade your soul. Lily has no limits.” - BUST

Deep Lounge characterizes Lily Frost‘s own unique combination of 60′s French pop, bossa nova rhythms, jazzy chords, bohemian lyrics and breathy vocals. Taken in by a group of French and South American Minstrels at an early adult age Lily was inspired and encouraged to put her poetry to melody and music and start making records. Her touring has led her to Cairo, Paris, London, New York and Los Angeles. Frost has recorded and released 7 records to date (solo and with her former bands The Colorifics and Mimosa).
Genre: Lounge-Pop
Sounds Like: Bebel Gilberto, Mazzy Star, Lætitia Sadier (Stereolab)
“Her romantic, dreamy tunes stir the imagination and evoke exotic locales with sexy Latin rhythms and lighthearted, Parisian-style synths. Frost plays acoustic gutiar and delivers her breathy vocals with a retro cool, a swingin’ 60′s chantuteuse with keen insights into modern life.” - Now Magazine
