A record that has been greatly anticipated since their debut EP in late 2004, Brent Randall and his Magnificent Pinecones bring us a collection of lush pop songs with a timeless orchestral cabaret feel.  Channeling the songwriting creativity and imagination of Tom Waits or Rufus Wainwright, We Were Strangers In Paddington Green glimmers with epic choruses (This House) and crestfallen dreamers (Slumberjack); a balance of emotion and sound that is forward striding and backwards looking.  The record was produced by Jason MacIssac (Jenn Grant, The Heavy Blinkers).

Hitting a strong note with critics, this album was the Globe and Mail “Disc of the Week” and the National Post “Band of the Day” the week of its release. The Globe claimed “Randall is an old-fashioned songwriter who has no time for the crippled tunelets that pass for songs on Top 50 radio these days”, and the Post stated “It should generally appeal to lovers of soft pop and, more specifically, to fans of Jim O’Rourke, The Magnetic Fields and Rufus Wainright”.
