++ Take It Or Leave by Krief ++

Take It Or Leave is the first offering of solo work from multi-instrumentalist Patrick Krief. Introduced to music at an early age, Krief started learning guitar at 3, gigging in bars at 13 and making it a full-time trade in ’04 by joining the Montreal noir-rockers The Dears. From a belief that music was meant to feel real and be an escape from reality, here you’ll find truth behind songs of hope, sadness and love. Listen closely for Lennon’s influence on the Beatles mixed with moments of Jeff Buckley.

Genre: Americana, Folk, Brit, Singer/Songwriter

Sounds Like: The Dears, John Lennon, Jeff Buckley

…every track on this album is unique and special, there is no filler..- The Tripwire

Paper Moon

Filled with gorgeous, expansive melodies, Broken Hearts… builds layers of instrumentation and expertly delivered vocals into an elegant pop record.  Standout tracks include “Turning Colours Into Greys,” “Last Goodbye,” “These New Friends of Yours…” and “String of Blinking Lights” (co-written with New York producer/Ivy member Andy Chase).  National recognition was such that the album was nominated for a 2006 Western Canadian Music Award for Best Pop Recording, alongside the likes of Michael Buble, Jann Arden and Daniel Powter.

Genre: Dynamic Pop, Alt-Pop

Sounds Like: Cardigans, Metric, Stars, Ivy

…this collection of songs reveals a band that can write tight, literate, and melodic songs.  Rare is the album that contains a majority of songs that are catchy upon the first listen, but this is one such album.- Pop Matters
